Happy Birthday Slash

July 24, 2018

Saul Hudson , better known as Slash, was born on July 23, 1965 in Stoke-On-Trent in England. Son of Anthony Hudson, a designer of album covers and Ola Hudson, a clothing designer. Thanks to the work of her mother, Slash was able to meet David Bowie in the late 70s, as she was responsible for preparing the outfit that Bowie wore in The Man Who Fell To Earth.

In 1977, the family moved to Los Angeles, United States. The relationship of his parents was somewhat deteriorated and they decide to separate and he is going to live with his grandmother. When he turned 15, his grandmother gave him his first string acoustic guitar, he learned to play it, since then he devoted a lot of time to music, almost 12 hours a day and because of that, his grades at school dropped and he decided to abandon it.

Soon and in the middle of a funny situation, he would meet his inseparable friend Steven Adler and they would go through a long life together in the world of music. When he played on a subway in 1984, he met Axl Rose and auditioned to be part of a band but he was not elected, a time later he would meet in Seattle with Steven Adler, Rose, Sradlin and Duff McKagan to form the band Guns N ' Roses.

In 1987 they released their debut album " Appetite for Destruction ", which initially did not have a great reception but had themes, which later became classics such as Welcome to the jungle, Sweet child or 'mine and Paradise city.

On October 30, 1996, Slash withdrew from the band Guns N'Roses , arguing that he could not work with Axl Rose, apparently both had different opinions on musical direction and preferred to depart. Along with Steven Adler and Matt Sorum, they decide to form Slash's Snakepit, recording the album "It's Five O'Clock Somewhere."

This successful guitarist has played with great music such as Bob Dylan, Michael Jackson, Iggy Pop, Alice Cooper, Lenny Kravitz, Steven Tyler, Rolling Stones among others.

Slash will always be remembered for being one of the best guitarists of the American Hard Rock group Guns N 'Roses, for his long and messy hair, his top hat, his Les Paul, for the great love he feels for the Jack Daniels and for always having a cigarette in his mouth.
